Hands Up!

Hands up if you still feed your kids kraft dinner and peanut butter and jam sandwiches? Because that's all they seem to want to eat. Just kidding. But I think the question which prompted the raised hand was, who in the audience bought Smith's cookbook? Seriously though -- in honour of my night's family dinner I did open a nice big can of frozen lobster (Lismore brand) canned in Souris, Prince Edward Island. You think my kids gobbled up the deliciously prepared lobster roll sandwiches I made? Not a chance. Ha! "No want! No want!" they protested. Oh well. Here's some ham and cheese for ya... More lobster for me.

Normally I wouldn't post a photo like this. Upon entering the stage there was a nice introduction and a few moments of chit chat, and clinking of wine glasses all the while the guest and host were standing. The light, or lack thereof, on Chef's face is horrible. The light tech at the venue (a beautiful venue) failed to take into account the man's giant stature. The result? The 6 foot 7 inch man's head is cut off leaving only the over-head light projected image illuminating his noggin. But, it sort of illustrates how tall he is...one of the missions I had while covering this event. Success or failure of the photo kind of depends on the context.

Marsden, Berman & Turner

Great name for a law firm, eh?...but they are not. They are authors William Marsden, Tzeporah Berman and Chris Turner. The three came to speak about the problems of climate change and options for the future. The event hosted by the Ottawa International Writers Festival.

Last week I went back to a great repeat customer for some business portraits of their Senior Executives. This time I had some super assistance with the set up and carrying of my equipment from Alastair (seen in the previous photo I uploaded last week - he's the one with the Kodak colour patch). Lessons Learned: I also went to Canadian Tire last week and picked up a collapsible dolly to carry all the sand bags and C-Stands. This relatively cheap purchase really, really made things easier for us. Nothing like multiple trips back to the car carrying 100 lbs of sandbags and gear from the parking lot through crowds of people, sweating all the way. Made me seriously wonder if there was an easier way to do things. Duh!
