Memorial Services - Joan MacDonald
Memorial Services for my mother, Joan MacDonald, will be at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa on Friday 17 May 2013, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Burial will take place at a later date in her hometown of Lourdes, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
Thank you again to my friends and family for your support during her lengthy illness and final weeks spent at the Hospice at May Court. Your thoughtful comments and notes have provided much comfort to my family and I. She was a great mom, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, nurse, and friend.
“So while the parish priest at her bedside Went hammer and tongs at the prayers for the dying And some were responding and some crying I remembered her head bent towards my head, Her breath in mine, our fluent dipping knives-- Never closer the whole rest of our lives.”
-- Seamus Heaney
