Alan Rickman Takes In Some Culture
Judging by today's front page of the Ottawa Citizen that I mentioned in my earlier weblog post today, I had a feeling that someone famous would be in attendance at John Ralston Saul's reading. Here on johnwmacdonald.com are some exclusive photos of the event today. Accompanying Mr. Rickman this afternoon was "Canadian producer Niv Fichman, one of the producers behind the forthcoming Snow Cake, but best known for his film, The Red Violin, starring Samuel L. Jackson." (Citizen quote)
I was expecting Her Excellency to be there supporting her husband but she was a no show this afternoon. John Ralston Saul was reading at the Library and Archives Canada on Wellington Street. Billed as an internationally acclaimed author, and one of Canada's foremost thinkers, he discussed his latest publication, The Collapse of Globalism: And the Reinvention of the World.
Indeed, Alan Rickman was in the audience today. He poses with Ottawa International Writersfest Director, Neil Wilson.

I thought posting these pics would bring some comments! Alan Rickman is one of my favourite actors. Blow Dry (2001) is also one of my favourite Rickman movies. A very human movie with great comedic moments.

Having seen so many of his faces in his films, it made me smile to see his "real" face. Thankyou for the current view and a straight look at a man who fills so well the role of actor: that of making you believe.
Thanks for the wonderful pictures of Mr. Rickman. Always so nice to see him doing something "normal" instead of posing at a movie opening. He looked relaxed and having fun.This Tennessee gal is highly pleased!
Fantastic pictures! I love celebrity candids. But, gee, hasn't he really aged in the last 2-3 years? He is really starting to look old. Still yummy though. :)
Alan Rickman is indeed my "Personal Jesus" and seeing him in an R&R mode just adds that much more depth to my admiration of The Man.
I am just very sad to have learned only recently that He was in my neck of the woods (I'm from Montreal) and did not know of His touring Canada. Dayhum!
