Canadian contemporary art has been greatly enriched by the avant-garde, satirical and provocative works of AA Bronson. As a member of the internationally renowned trio, General Idea, and as a solo artist, he has challenged and moved us with a body of work that ranges from critiques of popular culture to pieces on HIV/AIDS and healing. For decades, he has influenced generations of artists around the world, and is highly regarded for his contributions as an arts writer, editor and curator, and as co-founder of the artist-run centre, Art Metropole, in Toronto.
